From the beginning I didn’t like the landscaping I saw at peoples houses. Big lawns and all the bushes were cut in squares or balls. The average yard was boring and I wanted to do things a different way. All my customers said they wanted low maintenance. People don’t like to pay for maintenance so they hire people with no education in plants and no real interest in plants most of the time. So now there are almost no good gardeners to be found. But I realized it’s not their fault . People put in plants that grew to big for the places they put them and large lawns the two things that take the most maintenance. And all that trimming makes a disproportional amount of new of new growth which is what every bug and fungus love to eat. This never happens in nature and there is no lawns in nature. Once you start trimming a bush you have to trim it for the rest of your life. And lawns need more maintenance than anything else. If you want to fight nature in the end you will lose. I decided to put in plants that would only grow the size I needed and make the lawns smaller because a lot of people still wanted a lawn. Most bushes grew too big for the yard so I planted only perennials that bloomed and would stay on the small side.  You still had to trim the perennials but you will never fill up a trash can doing it. All you needed was to trim the old flowers and old leaves and trimming flowers is a lot more enjoyable than trimming bushes. People love flowers that’s why there is lots of florists and no bush shops. So I put in lots of flowers in my landscapes. So far everybody seems to love them. I enjoy hunting down and finding unusual plants and flowers for my landscaping. Since it cost more to trim a tree than to buy one I put in smaller trees that you don’t have to trim them much. I also like colored foliage . Flowers come and go but colored foliage never goes away.
